چکیده

A modelling approach is described, that is generally applicable for organizational, technical and information system design. The basic element of the approach is a so called ‘objective’. An objective is defined as a structured set of functions around a transformation function. The set provides a goal keeping environment for any transformation process. Combined with a well defined zooming mechanism the design can focus in from global view to any detail level. It is shown that the approach is a common basis for concurrent design of organization, equipment and information. To make the approach concrete, the design process of a new container terminal is used as a global example.

The Argo Project

The general objective of the Argo project is to build a process-centred environment kernel, providing assistance and active guidance to its users. Thanks to an hybrid approach of process modelling, both task-oriented and decision-oriented, it can be customized to support a broad range of collective design activities. The concept of issue is central to the modelling approach, both on the design ...

Multi-Domain Modelling - An Advantage In Modelling, Simulation And Control Education

The paper deals with an important aspect of continuous systems modelling and simulation approaches, with possibilities for multi-domain modelling. The traditional approach is based on block oriented schemes in which causal relations play an important role. However this causality is artificially generated in order to fulfil appropriate conditions for simulation on conventional sequential compute...

Critique of the Objective VHDL Language Definition

This paper provides a critical analysis of Objective VHDL, an object-oriented extension to VHDL. It is demonstrated that several design decisions lead to unnecessary complexity in the language and consequent modelling difficulty for designers. The SUAVE object-oriented extensions to VHDL, on the other hand, avoid these problems by more careful selection of language features.

An Organisation-Oriented Agents Approach to Modelling Network-Centric Warfare

One of the great challenges in evaluating the operational benefits of implementing the concept of Network Centric Warfare for the Australian Defence Force is assessing the value of information and the suitable organisational structures (C2 and networking) for maximising the benefits of advances in information and communication technologies (ICT). This is partly because the problem is difficult ...

An approach to Aspect Modelling with UML 2.0

The Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) has matured to become in Aspect-Oriented Software Development (AOSD), which its main objective is to promote the advance separation of concerns throughout the software development life cycle. As the modelling language UML is the most used standard to specify and document in a precise way any OO system; so it seems natural to extend it to AOSD. UML 2.0, alth...
